Baha'i is a syncretic faith found mostly in the middle east. The grounds are spectacular, situated high on Mount Carmel overlooking Haifa harbor and Lebanon. Public access is allowed to only the very top level.

Hi Barbara - nice pictures. However keep in mind the purpose of the gardens and terraces is religious, not primarily tourism and access to the main level, as well as a few others, is actually possible at times for the general public. I noticed the Shrine was not among your pictures - perhaps you visited when it was closed and pilgrims were present.
And where did you get the idea of the religion being syncretic? Did the garden terraces remind you of other gardens and seem merely a composition from them?
